Post-Irene Avocet, Sandy Point, W Haven 30 Aug 11

A few poor quality but record images of an American Avocet at Sandy Point in West Haven found by Buzz Devine on 30 Aug 11--a few days after hurricane Irene (28 Aug 11). Also, a record video of the Avocet with a few American Oystercatchers (5 were around) and a Ruddy Turnstone. The AMOYs were not happy sharing their space with the storm-driven interloper.

Lighthouse Park Garden mysteries

Here are a few photos of UFOs at the butterfly garden at Lighthouse Park on 19 Aug 2011. The first image is a moth photographed on the Francis Street spit at Milford Point on 17 August. The Robber Fly is Diogmites neoternatus.
