Milford Point 5/24/18, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Red Knot, WRSA. YBCU found by Paul D, eating tent caterpillars, 5 WRSA foraging with hundreds of other peeps. esp. SESA, SEPL. (PIPL have 5 nests enclosed on main sandbar, another on Cedar Beach; another on Shell Beach--so 7 exclosures btw Milford Harbor and the Housatonic River.)

May Warblers in Milford

May Warblers in Milford, 5/15/18. Finally a day of fallout throughout coastal CT, and it began here as soon as I opened the door in the morning with the singing of a Yellow-throated Vireo and two Black-throated Blue Warblers in the fog and a Cape May in the Silver Maple cross the street. Later, in Mondo Ponds and Wilcox Park, more Cape Mays and Bay-breasted, and Blackburnians in both sites. Other warblers included Wilson's, Canada, Magnolia (the most common), Common Yellowthroat, Yellow, Ovenbird, Black-throated Green, Tennessee, Yellow-rumped, Redstarts, Chestnut-sided, Black-and-white, Northern Waterthrush, and Blackpoll. Vireos were Warbling, Blue-headed, Red-eyed, and Yellow-throated. Thrushes were Veery, Swainson's, Wood, and Hermit. (Shorebirds were abundant at Milford Point, but that's another story.).
