Piping Plover, Milford Point, 3/15/19, FOY. At least two Piping Plover showed up at Milford Point on a warm, 55 F, March day. I saw them first in the lagoon foraging at low tide; then they walked onto the beach and engaged in vocalizing and parallel walking, a form of territorial behavior to establish boundaries for their nesting territories. A few photos and a brief video.

Black Hawk-Eagle, Talari Lodge, Costa Rica, 2/19/19
This Black Hawk-Eagle landed close to the dining area; it spent much of its time under the top of dense foliage, so we could not discern what it was doing--probably going after prey such as snakes.
