Sharp-tailed Sparrows, Silver Sands SP, 9/8/19. Mainly checking Sharp-tailed Sparrows in marsh south of Sparrow Lanes. ID of sharp-tailed sparrows provisional, but for this Saltmarsh Sparrow, esp the second photo, see a double in the sparrow book by Beadle and Rising (2002), plate 35.2. Crisp, dark, contrasting streaking on breast unlike Nelson's diffused breast streaking; bright yellow-orange malar contrasts with buff breast: both features often used to separate Saltmarsh from Nelson's. Weather raw, Cloudy, 61F.
