Piping Plover mid-season; 6/8/17, 6/11/17

American Oystercatcher, Milford Point, 6/8/17.  Possible nester--the AMOY have had a difficult season.  On 6/16/17, nest confirmed here--saw eggs when adult left nest.

Piping Plover mid-season.  6/8/17.  Note wire transmitter on PIPL 5E--wire just visible extended down back and beyond.  Abandoned eggs are on Francis Street spit exclosure at Milford Point, and the reason for the abandonment is not clear.  The single chick comes from the other Francis St spit exclosure, and it's also not clear why the adults focused upon a single egg/chick.  As of 6/13/17, the Shell Ave/E. Broadway family consisted of 4 chicks and 2 adults.

6/11/17, today E. Broadway chicks hatched. (6/13/17, all 4 chicks hatched and in front of 75 Shell. Photo shows 1 hatchling and the two adults.
