Molting PIPL male, 61 Shell,

The adult PIPLs with their second clutch at 61 Shell are beginning to show signs of molt. Notice the male's forehead and neckband as it's losng its dark alternate feathers.

7/5/15 1st Monarch home; Woodbridge ETB; Hickory and Banded together

Finally, a Monarch on our buddleia; a beautiful female Eastern Tailed Blue; a GS Frit--one of the season's abundant butterflies; a photo showing the similar Hairstreaks, Hickory and Banded, both having banner years.

7/3/15 More Hairstreaks, Naugatuck Industrial Park, Edwards,, Coral, Acadian

More Satyrium hairstreaks at Naugatuck Industrial Park 7/3/15.  A CtLeps report by Peter De Gennaro inspired us to go, and Ray Simpson acted as guide up a gas line cut to find the Corals and Edwards'.
